That's
right. We went to the same junior and senior high schools. But then
I went to a women's college, and we didn't meet very often during
university....May I give you my C.V.?
Thank
you. Ah yes, I heard from Yamamoto - you went to the States during
your senior high school days. That must mean that you're particularly
good at English.
比呂子
はい、どうにか、アメリカでの生活には事欠かない程度に上達しました。
Hiroko
Well...
I made enough progress to get by without too much difficulty in the
States.
That's
right. It's a small country town 60 miles - that's ..er... around
100 kilometres north of San Francisco. This spring I had the opportunity
to accompany a famous writer from the Japan Pen Club to the States
as an interpreter and managed
to drop in at Strawberry Fields for the first time in five years.
I visited
my old homestay family and teachers.
It's
good to make the most of your opportunities when you are young. Now,
I see you majored in English and American literature at Tokyo Women's
Christian University and graduated last March. So, you studied in
the same university as my wife. In fact, if you ' graduated in 1989,
you must be exactly 12 years younger than her. Did you belong to any
clubs at university?
比呂子
はい。その時は小説家希望でしたから、文芸部に入って、へたな推理小説ばかり書いておりました。
Hiroko
At
that time I wanted to be a writer, so I joined the Literature Club
and spent my time writing bad crime novels.
佐々木
スポーツは何かなさっていますか。
Sasaki
Do
you do any sports?
比呂子
はい。冬はスキー、夏は登山によくまいります。
Hiroko
Yes, I often ski in the winter and in the summer I go mountain
climbing.
